New-York Celebrates Nelson Mandela 91’st B’dayFormer South African President Nelson Mandela’s 91st birthday was celebrated by a concert at Radio City Music Hall last night (July 18) that included a rare performance by Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Mandela was too frail to attend the “Mandela Day” celebration, but he addressed the audience in a video. Mandela was a leading activist against apartheid in South Africa.
“Our struggle for freedom and justice was a collective effort. Mandela Day is no different,” he said. “It is our hope that people will dedicate their time and effort to improve the conditions within their own community.”
President Barack Obama also delivered a video message. “From New York to Cape Town, people are celebrating this extraordinary man,” Obama said. “The story of his life can be summed up in Nelson Mandela’s own words, ‘It always seems impossible until it’s done.’”
Stevie Wonder led the finale by all the concert’s performers and actors Morgan Freeman, Forest Whitaker and Susan Sarandon among others. They sang Wonder’s hit “Happy Birthday.” The Soweto Gospel Choir sang backup throughout the night.
The concert also featured such prominent artists as Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah, Gloria Gaynor and a number of African artists, including Baaba Maal.
Eighties pop queen Cyndi Lauper performed an unlikely duet with rapper Lil’ Kim in a rendition of Lauper’s ‘80s hit “Time After Time.” Oddly, it worked.
Alicia Keys and African artist Angelique Kidjo swirled their hips singing “Afrika.”
Dressed in black trouser suit, Bruni-Sarkozy played guitar with UK musician Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics in a folk acoustic duet of Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind.”
“It’s not very good for dancing, but very good for dreaming,” the 41-year-old former nude model said before launching into her French hit “Quelqu’un m’a dit” (”Someone told me”).

Michael Jackson didnt want to be white he had vitiligoI wanted to put a few rumors about the late king of pop to rest, you have many people saying he bleached his skin because he wanted to be white and he hated being black. But thats just pure ignorance, he had said in the pass that he suffers from a rear skin disorder called vitiligo which is a disorder that causes depigmentation in patches of skin. It occurs when the melanocytes, the cells responsible for skin pigmentation which are derived from the neural crest, die or are unable to function. The precise pathogenesis, or cause, of vitiligo is complex and not yet fully understood. There is some evidence suggesting it is caused by a combination of autoimmune, genetic, and environmental factors. It is also common in people with thyroid disorders. Shocking photos have emerged showing how drugs ravaged Michael Jackson’s legs as it was revealed that detectives are treating his death as homicide. Bruises, needle marks and a gruesome black wound can be seen in the previously unseen images which were broadcast to millions by U.S. TV network ABC.
They had been released by the singer’s father Joe to show his son had vitiligo, the skin-whitening disease, which Jackson had always claimed he’d had. However their release has raised more questions about the star’s drug use.

The black wound appears to have been caused where an intravenous line, fed into his leg, was removed and fluids dripped into his lower leg.
Normally, IV tubes go into the arms.
There are also puncture marks peppering the skin on his legs which appear to have been caused by needlemarks.
Dr Debra Jaliman, a spokeswoman for the American Academy of Dermatology, told the ABC network: ‘It looks like there are multiple punctures from intravenous placement.
‘If the IV fluid went into his skin it may have destroyed it.’
The specialist said of the 2002 pictures it was ‘unusual’ to inject drugs into the legs, but that the measure would be taken if no veins in the upper body were accessible.
The blackness of the wound is believed to be the result of necrosis, the death of most or all the cells in tissue due to disease.

Rihanna’s New Album to Have More Rock ‘n’ Roll MaterialsRumor has it, Rihanna’s upcoming studio album will carry more rock ‘n’ roll sounds than her previous effort “Good Girl Gone Bad”. Though so, she reportedly will keep the R&B tune by mixing the rock materials with pop sounds.
“The album will be full of musical styles and will mark a change for Rihanna and her fans, who will not be disappointed with the result,” so Rihanna Daily wrote on its site. “At the moment nobody has recorded, with the exception of those with the singer Chris Brown, which were canceled and will not appear on the album.”
Furthermore, several duets between Rihanna and undisclosed featured guests will be included in the new record. Other details about this studio project are still under tight wraps, but earlier last month, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Kanye West were rumored to hit studio with her. She was also claimed to team up with Trina to diss Chris Brown.
Most recently, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Soulja Boy, Shontelle and Pharrell Williams were said to help Rihanna working on the album as well. Up to date, there is no clue on when she will drop the effort.
Beside being busy with her own project, Rihanna also managed to give some advice to Sugababes on choosing materials for the British group’s new album. She has been listening to Sugababes’ new songs and “saying what she liked and what she didn’t.”
